Pro tips
Master DAX Measures
Use CALCULATE, FILTER, and ALL functions to create dynamic measures. DAX measures recalculate based on filters - far more powerful than calculated columns for most scenarios.
Bookmarks for Navigation
Create bookmarks to save the current state of filters, slicers, and visual selections. Use bookmark buttons to build interactive page navigation and drill-through experiences.
Performance Analyzer
Use View → Performance Analyzer to identify slow visuals and DAX queries. Each visual's render time and DAX query duration are shown - optimize the slowest ones first.
Field Parameters
Create field parameters to let users dynamically switch between measures or dimensions in visuals. Users can pick which metric to display without needing separate visuals.
Incremental Refresh
Set up incremental refresh for large datasets to only load new/changed rows. This dramatically reduces refresh times for datasets with millions of rows.
Custom Tooltips
Create a separate report page and set it as a tooltip page. Hover over any visual to see a rich, detailed tooltip with additional charts and KPIs.
